Idea Cellular Plans to Start Telecom Operations in Mumbai, Bihar

India's Idea Cellular, a unit of the Aditya Birla Group, is planning to launch an IPO (Initial Public Offering) in Mumbai and invest 27% of the profits in setting up telecom operations in Mumbai, for which it has obtained the license. Idea Cellular's first-year investment in the Mumbai network is estimated at approximately 6.5 billion Rupees (US$147.7 million; US1 = 44 Rupees). Services are slated for rollout by the end of 2007. Similar telecom operations are planned for Bihar as well.
